Book Adventure #1: A Timeless Romance- Emmaline by Sarah Holman

Now, I'm an avid lover of fairytale retellings, but what about a Jane Austen retelling? Will Emmaline be able to match the timeless pages of Jane Austen's beloved novel Emma?

Drawn away into the Depression Era of 1930s America, we are introduced to Emmaline Wellington in the small town of Ashbury, Pennsylvania. Emmaline doesn't seem like the most likable character (Who doesn't love books?), but slowly, she and her community of close kit friends find a place in your heart. The plot pulls you in- How many proposals can a girl go through? How does a Roman chariot race fit in to an American Celebration? Will Knight win the day (although he is always forgetting his hat?), or will Morgan charm Emmaline away? Will Emmaline yield her foolish pride to the Lord before it's too late? Full of faith, romance, and a unexpected plot twist- Emmaline is sure to charm you.

It was sweet. It was funny. It was clean. I loved Mr. Knightly from Emma and Frederick Knight won me over the moment I met him!

Sarah Holman masterfully retold Emma. She stayed true to the original, yet created a new story- all its own. The characters were much more personable, and had deeper relationships with the Lord than the original which encouraged me immensely.

I rate this book as 5 out of 5 stars!
