*Disclaimer ~ Not all the books I am giving a trial mean that I can recommend them. More often than not, they are clean, but if you want to be on the safe side...
Books, I truly recommend will eventually appear on my blog as book adventures or be stated (in the heading read, reading, not the will be reading) specifically on this post.

Hello, Troopers!
So, I have a confession to make- for a long time I didn't read WWII fiction. I don't know if it was because there were so many fiction books set in that time period, or because I just didn't care for it. I now realize how wrong I was. We must remember the brave men and women, who fought for our freedoms, otherwise their sacrifice will be for nought and the liberties for which they gave their lives for, stripped away. As Memorrial Day draw near, let us remember!
Now, if you were curious as to what I've been reading, hike! We're going off the trail to discover all three books of the Young Refugee Series by Ed Dunlop.
Read- Escape to Liechtenstein (Recommend 100%)
I have actually read this book and The Search for the Silver Eagle before. The third I haven't, and I think it was because we purchased it a year after the others. This series really portrays WWII struggles, well, without being too violent I'd recommend them to just about any age. I also like that each book shows a different aspect of the War. Anyway, back to the trail, I thought I'd refresh my memory by starting at the beginning of this series. I found that I'd actually forgotten most of the story line, which I love because it's like cracking it open for the very first time all over again.
Escape to Liechtenstein vividly described Austria and aspects of their resistance. Lars had to be my favorite character. Under better circumstances, it would also have been interesting to stay in a beaver's lodge. The children dodging danger at every turn had my heart pounding the last few chapters, and I almost thought they wouldn't make it. I don't know how during those times you trusted anyone. I guess it proves that you have to keep trusting the Lord to direct your steps and giving people a chance to do what's right.
Reading- The Search for the Silver Eagle (Recommend 100% for ages 9+)
This is my favorite book out of the first two. I'll have to see if Incredible Rescues tops it. In The Search for the Silver Eagle, we change our landscape by trekking into France. It's a race between the French Resistance and the Germans to find an weapon that could be revolutionary to the war. It made me ponder why the Nazis were so power driven, and that those who resisted them would be beaten in the blink of an eye. It saddened me when Monsieur Jayet was shot and reminded me to never take life for granted. On a more cheerful note, loved the plucky Frenchmen Messieurs: Blanc, Marceau, and Brisard as engaged in the slient fight for their countries freedom. I'd love to linger more, but we've got to keep moving to-
Will be Reading- The Incredible Rescues
I believe the book swings to yet another facet of the front- Hungary. The book hinted that Hans and Gretchen might be helping a little-known Christian historical figure, which I'm intrigued by. I want to read it sooner rather than later, so I believe I had better finish this curiousity trip with that, and finish reading book two.
So long for now, Soldiers!
God Bless!
Ellie
